Meat Smarts helps shoppers compare visible meat packages in a photo and receive one best-looking selection. This policy explains what information is processed when you use the service.

Information We Process

Account information: your email address and basic Google profile information when you use Google sign-in.
Photos and results: photos you submit, request preferences, and the resulting visual recommendation.
Usage and membership: free picks used, subscription status, complimentary-access status, and identifiers connecting your account with billing.
Technical information: limited request, device, security, and diagnostic information processed by our providers.

How We Use Information

We use information to authenticate users, analyze submitted photos, return recommendations, count free picks, provide paid or complimentary access, prevent abuse, troubleshoot problems, and operate and improve Meat Smarts.

Photos

Meat Smarts does not intentionally save submitted meat photos to its application database. A submitted photo is transmitted to our AI service provider to generate the requested result. Service providers may process and retain information according to their own service terms and security practices.

Service Providers

We use Supabase for authentication and account data, OpenAI for photo analysis, Stripe for subscriptions and billing, Vercel for hosting, and Google for optional sign-in. Stripe processes payment-card information directly; Meat Smarts does not receive or store full card numbers.

Sharing and Sale

We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information to service providers, when required by law, to protect users or the service, or as part of a business transfer.

Retention and Security

Account, usage, and membership records are retained while your account is active and as reasonably necessary for security, legal, accounting, and operational purposes. We use reasonable safeguards, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.

Your Choices

You may sign out, manage or cancel a subscription through the billing portal, or request access to or deletion of your account information.

Children

Meat Smarts is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Policy Changes

We may update this policy as the service changes. We will post the revised policy and update its effective date.

Visual Guidance Only

Meat Smarts provides an automated opinion based only on details visible in a submitted photo. It cannot smell, touch, test, or fully inspect meat or packaging. It does not determine food safety, freshness, wholesomeness, exact grade, or fitness for consumption.

Your Final Decision

You are responsible for checking labels, dates, temperatures, seals, recalls, storage instructions, and store guidance before purchasing, preparing, or consuming food. Do not use a Meat Smarts result as a substitute for food-safety guidance or professional advice.

Accounts

You are responsible for activity under your account. Do not misuse the service, attempt to bypass free-pick limits, interfere with its operation, or submit unlawful content.

Subscriptions

Paid plans renew automatically at the interval and price shown at checkout until canceled. You may manage or cancel through the billing portal. Cancellation generally takes effect at the end of the current paid period unless checkout terms or applicable law provide otherwise.

Availability

Results may be incomplete, incorrect, or unavailable. We may modify, suspend, limit, or discontinue features and may take reasonable steps to prevent fraud or abuse.

Disclaimer

To the extent permitted by law, Meat Smarts is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, safety, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability.

Limitation

To the extent permitted by law, Meat Smarts and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the service or reliance on a result.

Changes

We may update these terms and will post the revised version with a new effective date.

We review Meat Smarts across security, privacy, reliability, accessibility, performance, and product safety. This summary stays in the app so our standards and follow-up work remain visible.

Current Checks

Automated tests: 34 of 34 passing with enforced coverage thresholds.
Production dependencies: no known vulnerabilities reported by the package audit at the last review.
Security baseline: authenticated account and billing routes, signed Stripe webhooks, request size limits, defensive browser headers, and server-side usage enforcement are in place.
Privacy baseline: submitted photos are processed for the requested analysis and are not intentionally stored in the application database.
